Shame…Ashamed???

March 11, 2008

It took just one day or rather a hundred and fifty odd minutes to break a legacy of 80 years, and belive me it wasn’t a good feeling for any one of us. I am indeed talking about the failure of the Indian Men’s Hockey team to qualify for the Olympics to be held later this year in Beijing.

Oh what a shame…what a shame! “ I am hurt..” said Joaquim Carvalho the erstwhile coach of Indian Hockey Team after he quit the post following the shocking defeat at the hands of Great Britain. Believe me man I never felt so bad. I mean hockey being the national game of India and still…

But who is to be blamed for all this?? The coach, the team or the administrators?? The coach I think is a man of integrity who held to his words and quit after “the ousting” and he did give his everything to the team. Yes the team is to blame a bit as they were the ones who failed to perform in the match and it was due to them that we had to witness this shameful scenario. But according to me its KPS Gill the IHF chief who is the chief reason for this and for that mattter the repeated failures of the team. I mean after sufering such a loss, such a break of a legacy any man of integrity would have stepped down the hot-seat, and yet quite shamelessly Gill still refused to part from his Loved chair. The question that now has arised is that when and after how many irreparable losses will Gill have the courtesy to quit?? According to me, well the Government of India should for the best interests of the game kick him out as its time!!!
