James Horner Rocks
June 30, 2008

I mean have seen Titanic 16 times and still the magnificence of the music composed by James Horner always succeeds in muddling me. The greatness of the tracks is that it always touches the heart, especially the track Hymn To The Sea. I simply love it and I don’t think anyone who hears it will disagree.
Leaving apart Titanic, Horner has also produced some great music for Braveheart, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and the list goes on!

I had often seen Kolkata. I had often seen Ranchi. I had often seen the globe. But not in the manner in which I saw it just a few days back. I mean, I was travelling by MDLR airlines while I was returning home (ranchi) from Kolkata. The weather was overcast at the ground. But what awaited me in the sky was wonderful. It seemed that the plane that carried me was traversing through emptiness – complete, white, emptiness. It was so strange to look around and not being able to feel any sense of motion, as if the plane were suspended in Limbo. It was strange.
Then came a view that very nearly stopped my eyes from blinking so that I were able to see every second of the tranquil beauty of nature. It was when I was busy with gloomy thoughts that the weather had automatically induced into me, that I saw the window to earth. The clouds must have parted somewhat, or it may have been just a non-uniform distribution of the clouds, but the view that it offered was simply wonderful. I didn’t have my camera at that moment, or i could have shown you people what a window truly is like.
Imagine looking down from the cloudy window as in the pic.
Tomar Jonno

The time I spent in Kolkata this summer was at first just for training and a li’l bit of fun. But it turned out to be a lot more : it cost me something very very important and something which I never will be able to redeem or regain. Its gone forever.

When I went there, i was completely biased against Kolkata and its people. The weather too was something which I dreaded and hated to hear about. But at the end of this one month I would like to say that Kolkata completely won me over and am glad that this happened.
The people of Kolkata , though always a a bit grumpy are pretty helpful. The weather though damned humid and hot always seems quite refreshingly Indian and that simply gladdens the heart. Yes, the inevitable wading in the humongous pool of human beings seemed a bit tiring, but whatever be it, I liked it too.
Then there was this night I was listening to the radio when out came a song on Aamar_Bangla Tomaar Jonno by Balam (Watch the video here)and I was simply won over. I really loved the song and it has become, till date the first bangla song that i ave liked!
And as the training and the vacation ended, something happened; something that I can’t tell about to any living person till I am dead; something that caused me to loose the most precious thing I had; something that I won’t ever get back!
